NYC AI Governance and Safety

New York AI Governance and Safety (NYAIGS) runs free events, including talks, panels, and workshops, that bring together New York’s AI safety, security, governance, and policy community, from researchers and builders to policymakers, funders, and journalists.

New York City brings together incredibly talented people across industries. It is an emerging hub for some of the most important challenges in AI safety, governance and security. Our work brings together the diversity of expertise in this city to address these challenges.

Since our launch in 2025, NYAIGS has convened professionals from organizations including leading research institutions, government agencies, international organizations, civil society groups, and frontier AI companies. Highlights include a 2025 convening of experts during UN General Assembly Week on verification of international AI agreements; a 2026 book talk with Sebastian Mallaby, author of The Infinity Machine; intimate dinners with field leaders; and regular happy hours that bring our broader community together.

NYAIGS was co-founded by Patricia Paskov and Dan Altman in their personal capacities. Its staff includes CB Roman (Operations) and Annie Lehman-Ludwig (Senior Strategist).

NYAIGS is funded entirely through philanthropic grants and individual donations and accepts no corporate funding. All events are free. NYAIGS charges no membership or attendance fees. Leadership recuse from decisions affecting their employers.
