NYAIGS fosters convening spaces for people working across AI safety, security, governance, and public policy, spanning academia, think tanks, industry, startups, philanthropy, government, media, and more to navigate the opportunities and risks from AI.
Why NYC
New York City's unique ecosystem creates distinctive advantages for AI governance work. The city offers access to diverse institutions and decision-makers who influence AI's development—from UN representatives and frontier researchers to financial regulators, philanthropic foundations, and media organizations. This positioning allows us to connect AI research with implementation pathways. Since our launch, NYAIGS has convened professionals from organizations including leading research institutions, frontier AI companies, government agencies, international organizations, and civil society groups. Our events have sparked new collaborations, informed policy discussions, and facilitated connection between NYC-based professionals and the global AI safety community.
We're building the infrastructure for a field that will be crucial to humanity's future with advanced AI systems. By strengthening the quality, quantity, and interconnectedness of AI safety professionals in NYC, we're investing in the expertise and networks needed to navigate the opportunities and risks ahead.

Past Events
Since launching in 2025, NYAIGS had convened 100’s of AI safety and governance professionals across several events. Highlights include a convening of experts during UNGA on verification of international AI agreements, intimate dinners with field leaders, and regular happy hours that bring our broader community together.
