NYC AI Governance and Safety

Mission

NYAIGS fosters convening spaces for people working across AI safety, security, governance, and public policy, spanning academia, think tanks, industry, startups, philanthropy, government, media, and more to navigate the opportunities and risks from AI.

Why NYC

New York City's unique ecosystem creates distinctive advantages for AI governance work. The city offers access to diverse institutions and decision-makers who influence AI's development—from UN representatives and frontier researchers to financial regulators, philanthropic foundations, and media organizations. This positioning allows us to connect AI research with implementation pathways. By strengthening the community of professionals focused on frontier AI safety, security, and governance in NYC, we're investing in the expertise and networks needed to reap the benefits and mitigate the risks from increasingly powerful AI systems.
